Salt Therapy (Halotherapy) Benefits

  • Salt therapy, or halotherapy, involves breathing in microscopic, pharmaceutical-grade salt particles in a controlled environment (a “salt cave” or “salt room”). It’s like spending a day at the beach, but far more concentrated.

The primary benefits are for your respiratory system and skin. The salt acts as a natural:

    • Anti-inflammatory: Reduces inflammation in the airways, making it easier to breathe.

    • Antibacterial: Helps cleanse and kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi on your skin and in your sinuses and lungs.

    • Mucolytic (Mucus-thinning): Breaks up and thins mucus, helping you clear it from your lungs and sinuses.

    Key benefits include:

    • Respiratory Relief: Can provide relief for conditions like:

      • Asthma

      • Allergies

      • Sinusitis

      • Bronchitis

      • COPD

    • Skin Health: Helps manage skin conditions by reducing inflammation and bacteria, such as:

      • Eczema

      • Psoriasis

      • Acne

      • Rosacea

    • Stress Reduction: The serene, spa-like environment of a salt room, combined with the mood-enhancing effects of negative ions, promotes calm and relaxation

  • Don’t hesitate to bring a friend, we have saunas that accommodate up to 4 people

FAQ

What is an infrared sauna?

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses infrared light to heat your body directly, rather than using a traditional heater to heat the air around you. This allows for a deeper sweat at a much lower, more comfortable air temperature (typically 120-150°F or 50-65°C).

What are the main benefits of an infrared sauna?

The benefits come from the heat penetrating deep into your body, which helps to:

  • Promote Detoxification: Causes a deep, profuse sweat to help flush out toxins.

  • Relieve Pain: Eases muscle soreness, joint stiffness, and chronic pain from conditions like arthritis.

  • Improve Circulation: Expands blood vessels, which can help lower blood pressure and increase blood flow.

  • Aid in Muscle Recovery: Helps clear lactic acid and reduce post-workout soreness.

  • Promote Relaxation: Provides a gentle, soothing heat that can lower stress hormones (cortisol) and improve sleep.

  • Support Skin Health: Increased circulation and sweat can help clear pores and improve skin tone.

What does "Full-Spectrum" infrared mean?

"Full-spectrum" means the sauna uses all three infrared wavelengths, each with a different purpose:

  • Near-Infrared (NIR): The shortest wavelength, best for skin health, collagen production, and surface-level wound healing.

  • Mid-Infrared (MIR): Penetrates deeper, good for improving circulation and pain relief.

  • Far-Infrared (FIR): The longest wavelength; penetrates deepest to raise your core temperature, promoting the best detoxification and muscle relief

What is salt therapy (halotherapy)?

Salt therapy is a natural treatment that involves breathing in microscopic, pharmaceutical-grade salt particles in a controlled environment, often called a "salt cave" or "salt room."

How does salt therapy work?

The dry salt aerosol is naturally antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. When you inhale it, the particles are designed to travel deep into your respiratory system to:

  1. Reduce inflammation in the airways.

  2. Break up and thin mucus.

  3. Cleanse and kill bacteria and allergens.

It can have similar anti-inflammatory and cleansing effects on the skin.

What are the main benefits of salt therapy?

The primary benefits are for respiratory and skin health. It is often used to help:

  • Alleviate Respiratory Issues: Such as asthma, allergies, sinusitis, bronchitis, and COPD.

  • Soothe Skin Conditions: Can provide relief for eczema, psoriasis, acne, and rosacea.

  • Reduce Stress: The environment of a salt room is extremely calm and meditative, and the negative ions in the salt air are believed to boost mood.

What are the benefits of doing both therapies?

They offer a powerful "inside-out" and "outside-in" cleanse:

  • The infrared sauna works from the inside-out, heating your core to push toxins out through your sweat.

  • The salt therapy works from the outside-in, cleansing your respiratory system and skin.

Arrival & Departure

Plan out your sauna time! Please arrive on time or early. A session includes 40 minutes in the sauna, with 10 minutes to cleanse and change. We try to accommodate as many of our clients as possible, so we book the rooms back to back with enough time in between to clean and get things ready for the next client. Staying longer delays other guests. Because of this we ask that you arrive no later than 5 minutes prior to your appointment start time and make sure you vacate the room when your booked time is up. Additional time in the room is subject to a $2.00/minute charge. Please spend time in our rejuvenation lounge if you require additional time to unwind.

What to Wear

We will provide each client with a towel, as well as one towel to sit on. Extra towels are available at $2 each. Skin exposure is preferable – some like to wear their bathing suits or undergarments when in the sauna but most go in with just the towels we provide. We recommend clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable to put back on after your session.

Who should NOT use these therapies?

You must consult your doctor before trying either therapy, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions.

DO NOT use an infrared sauna if you have:

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure or severe cardiovascular conditions

  • A recent heart attack

  • An inability to sweat (anhidrosis)

  • A fever or communicable disease

  • Are pregnant

  • Are under the influence of alcohol or drugs

DO NOT use salt therapy if you have:

  • Active infections or contagious diseases

  • Fever

  • Active tuberculosis

  • Severe lung conditions (like Stage 3 COPD)

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension)
